Expedition: Canada was a test run for ShipShape. It allowed the crew to visit, film and conduct first-hand research on a number of key ships and museums across the country’s east coast, most notably HMCS Haida and HMCS Sackville. It also allowed for a brief cross-border excursion to see USS The Sullivans and more at the Buffalo Naval Park Museum.

The key ships

Live from USS The Sullivans

During the trip, Drachinifel and Dr Alex Clarke talked live with those looking to restore The Sullivans about what happened to the ship, and what came next.

This provided an opportunity both to debunk some rumours, and provide an update on her current state. It also acted as a fundraiser for the Buffalo Naval Museum, helping significantly in their efforts to fund her restoration.

Live from HMCS Haida

From the deck of HMCAS Haida, Dr Alex Clarke explains what it means to finally meet the one true love of his live to Drachinifel.

In addition, questions are taken and answers given about this last survivor of the legendary WW2 Tribal Class Destroyers

Live from HMCS Sackville

Drachinifel and Dr Alex Clarke talk with Art, Sackvilles Chief-of-Ship about her history, operation, restoration and current state.

This includes vertical triple expansion engines, a look at the reality of camouflage patterns for a Flower Class Corvette, and how Hollywood has a habit of dulling things down…
